About this game
Trap a line of your opponent's discs between two of yours and the whole line flips to your colour. When the board is full or neither side can move, the player with more discs wins. That is the entire rulebook, and a single move can turn the game around — which is why this classic never went away.
Legal squares are marked with yellow dots, so a first-timer can play at once. Solo, face the easy, medium or hard AI; with a friend, put one phone in the middle and take turns tapping. Your AI win streak goes on the leaderboard.
Controls
- Tap a square with a yellow dot to place a disc
- Vs AI you are black (●); in 2-player mode black and white alternate
- Press R or Restart for a new game
Rules
- Sandwich opponent discs in a straight line (any direction) and every disc between flips
- You may only play where at least one disc flips; with no legal move you pass automatically
- Game ends when the board is full or both players are stuck — most discs wins
- Each AI win adds +1 to your streak; a loss resets it. Best streak is your record
Strategy & tips
Corners are everything
A corner disc can never be flipped. The squares diagonally next to a corner (X-squares) usually hand the corner to your opponent — avoid them early.
Flip fewer discs early
More discs means more places for your opponent to play. Until midgame, moves that limit their options are the strong ones.
Hard looks three moves ahead
Greedy flipping loses to the hard AI. Take corners and edges first, then flip in bulk in the last ten moves.
FAQ
Is this the same as Othello?
Same family of rules. Othello is a trademark, so this site uses the generic name Reversi.
How do two people play?
Tap 2 Players and black and white alternate. Put one phone between you and take turns.
The AI is too strong
Easy is close to random and medium only weighs square values. Hard reads three moves ahead — that is the real opponent.
