About this game
The pencil-and-paper game, on a screen. Players take turns drawing one line between two dots; whoever draws the fourth side of a box claims it and moves again. On a 5×5 grid of dots there are 16 boxes — fill them all and the player with more boxes wins.
The rules take ten seconds, but the game turns on who is forced to draw the third side first. Solo, play the easy, medium or hard AI; with a friend, one phone in the middle and alternate taps. Your AI win streak is your leaderboard score.
Controls
- Tap the gap between two dots to draw a line there
- On desktop, hovering previews the line
- Closing a box keeps the turn — go again
Rules
- Draw exactly one line per turn
- Whoever draws the fourth side of a box owns it and moves again
- When all 40 lines are drawn the game ends — most boxes wins
- Each AI win adds +1 to your streak; a loss resets it. Best streak is your record
Strategy & tips
Never draw a third side
Give a box its third side and your opponent closes it at once. Early on, avoiding third sides is the whole game.
Count the chains
Past midgame the safe lines run out. Then pick the line that hands over the shortest chain.
Hard counts what it gives away
When forced to give, the hard AI hands you the shortest chain. To beat it, keep the long chains for last.
FAQ
How do two people play?
Tap 2 Players and blue and pink alternate. One phone between you is all it takes.
Why do you move again after closing a box?
That is the original rule, and it is what makes whole chains change hands in one swoop.
Can I change the board size?
Only 5×5 dots (16 boxes) for now. A game takes two or three minutes, a good size for a phone.
